Corinne Mitchell is a self taught artist, always striving to bring the sensation and harmony of nature into the home through art. She is drawn to the lines and layers in geologic formations formed over time and can see abstract compositions to bring them to life on the canvas. She plays with all mediums using a catalyst wedge to move fluid acrylics, water soluble crayon for mark making, and handmade paper collage to create texture.
She uses a similar highly textured/mixed media style for her more realistic subjects. This bridges the gap between her abstracts and realism in portraits. She has discovered this painting style best fits her life as a busy mom of two active teenagers. Her style is a push and pull of adding and subtracting, just like in nature. She has learned to embrace and appreciate this spiritual/ meditative process through years of experimentation. Corinne loves the quote, “Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience.”- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Recently, she was accepted into the 2021 Art Comes Alive juried competition in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is represented by Art Design Consultants (ADC Fine Art Gallery) in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2018-2020, she was represented by Buckhead Art & Company Gallery curated by Katie Jones. She was a participating artist in Celebrating Art Macon in 2019 and the Pre-ten-tious Collector art show in 2020.
