I have a background in Graphic Design from the University of Georgia and a 25+ year career in sales and marketing for a global corporation. Upon retiring several years ago, I opened my own studio to pursue my passion of being a full-time artist.
My creative process in the studio is a playful exploration of colour and shapes as well as different materials. The right side of my brain loves the freedom of abstraction but the left side of my brain tends to steer me back to structure, symmetry, precision and organization. It's a constant battle! I work with acrylics, oils, inks and pastels. I don't like the limitations of one medium.
I enjoy working on a "series". Each painting within the series is related in some way, whether it be by colour palette, theme, unifying marks, or stemming from the same idea.
I am also the founder and creative director of The Pre•ten•tious Collector. I recognized early on the need to help artists with the business side of being a working artist. Not only does the PC curate a group show but we teach artists "the what", "the why", and "the how" to grow their potential collector base and facilitate more sales.
