To say that 2020 was a crazy year is an understatement! For many artists, the expectations of a prosperous year ran high. With gallery shows scheduled, exhibits planned, art festivals and pop-up shops on the books, the year ahead was shaping up to be a busy one for most artists.
Then the Covid-19 pandemic came out of nowhere. Shows and exhibits were postponed, then cancelled. Art Galleries were closed indefinitely. Businesses shut down and we were instructed to stay at home! And as a result, artists' earning potential came to a virtual standstill.
The Pre•ten•tious Collector ™ is the love child of Dee Aurandt, an artist from Athens, Ga. It was conceived and born out of the need to help the artistic community during these challenging times as well as provide value and beauty to others.
Our very first art show was held in September of 2020 in the beautiful home of a local artist. We cannot express how thrilled we were with the success of this show. We curated over 700 pieces of original art from 28 talented artists. And despite the horrible weather, we sold over $38,000 in art, both in person and online!
For artists, The Pre•ten•tious Collector™ provides services that help facilitate personal connections with art patrons as well as business coaching and educational tools for their business.
For the art patron, The Pre•ten•tious Collector™unlocks access to a carefully-curated group of artists, compelling artwork, and unique experiences that facilitate a deeper connection with the art they buy.
