Mary Sams

I received my BFA from the University of Georgia and currently live and work in Athens, GA.

Over the years, I’ve dabbled in different mediums but it wasn’t until a particularly challenging time in my life that I decided to pick back up a paint brush and let all of my thoughts and emotions pour out onto the canvas. During that time, I was free and finally able to express myself clearly and make realizations and connections.

My paintings are raw and vulnerable psychological portraits and self-portraits. They are my heart.... my mind.... my voice. They are my prayers.

I consider my style to be abstract and driven by emotion, color and faith, creating the composition at hand.
